Top Stock Image Sites for Doulas & Midwives

Pregnancy, Doula, Postpartum, Lactation stock image sites

Whether you’re just starting out or have been in business for awhile, high quality photos are a must for an effective website and social media. Professional brand photos or those captured with your clients are best, but might not always be an option. Stock photos can be used as needed, but finding stock images for pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and parenting businesses is definitely easier said than done! Most of the options out there are unrealistic, lack diversity, and are in a very staged hospital setting. These typically aren’t the images you’re looking for. So, it can be a bit of a hunt to find images, but it is possible! Here are my top sites to find photos:

Free Stock Image Sites

Finding free, high-quality images particularly from intimate times like pregnancy and childbirth is tricky, but the sites listed have some options if you get creative with your search.

Unsplash

There is a surprising amount of pregnancy, baby, and birth photos. There is also a decent selection of kids and family. Some are definitely cheesy, but there are photos to work with. Unsplash also has tons of photos of other topics so there is a wide variety!

Kaboompics & Pixabay

Limited pregnancy, baby, or birth photos on these sites, but there are some of kids and families. A wide variety of other photo types too for filler in other places.

Pexels

There is a decent amount of pregnancy and baby photos. Also quite a few of kids and families. There is some diversity in some images.

Canva*

Canva is an online design tool where you can create designs. There are tons of customizable graphics as well as decent selection of stock images. There is a free version, but the paid version is well worth the cost!

Paid Stock Image Sites

If you’re willing to invest, there are lots more options for paid stock photos. A website really only needs a handful of high-quality photos to really stand out.

Lem & June*

There is an impressively large selection of beautiful birth photos. You’ll find home birth, birth center, and hospital births as well photos of pregnancy and babies. Photos can be purchased a la carte or through a curated brand package. Whichever route you go you’ll get a discount if you mention I sent you!

Stocksy

A good collection of professional photos for birth and pregnancy. And a variety of kids and families as well. Pricing is reasonable and per individual photo.

Creative Market*

Beautiful collections of photographs. I also love Creative Market for it’s fonts, illustrations, graphics, and templates. They also offer free products each week if you sign up for their email list.

Shutterstock

A variety of images. Some better than others. This site does have some birth related diagrams that are worth checking out. There are different monthly plans, but you can get 10 free photos free for the first month.
