What is a Lightbox for Squarespace?

Lightbox for Squarespace is a design effect that allows an image to be clicked and opened into a full screen view while dimming the rest of the page. Visitors can then click the X in the corner to close. This is a great way for website visitors to click on a photo and see a larger, up-close view. Pretty neat, huh?

But, my favorite way to use Lightbox is actually with a form. Forms can take up a ton of space and are often bulky on a page. They don’t look nice! However, using Lightbox allows you to transform the form into a tidy little button. So, when you click the button your form opens up. Still not sure what I mean? Check out the example below.

How do I make it happen?

  • Navigate to the page where your form is

  • Select the pencil icon to edit the form

  • Click the Advanced tab

  • Scroll to the bottom and click Enable Lightbox

  • Give the button a unique name

  • Click Save

  • Refresh the page and preview

  • Enjoy the neat and tidy page!
